It’s probably just me, but I don’t like it when missionaries use slang.
It just feels weird to hear an Elder say, “That’s a sick tie”.

Maybe he didn’t mean that it was awesome.
Maybe he meant that it looked unhealthy.
Unfortunately, I sometimes just don’t like missionaries. I’ve been around so many terrible ones that I feel like they have to establish that they’re one of the good ones before I can like them. Which is terrible.
